DFW AdoptAbility

DFW Adoption is a Voluntary Adoption Agency and a Registered Charity based in Durham, and supporting children and families across the North East who have a connection with adoption.

DFW Adoption has been finding families for children for over 60 years and has a dedicated team of adoption social workers with a wealth of experience and commitment.

We cover an approximate 50 mile radius from the office base in Durham. The areas covered include parts of Northumberland and the whole of Newcastle and Gateshead, Durham, Sunderland, Teesside and parts of North Yorkshire.

It is important to find adoptive families to meet the needs of a diverse range of children and in doing so we welcome applications from the disabled community. Supporting us to achieve our aims are Disability North, The Percy Hedley Foundation, Scope, and Remploy who all offer a vast range of support to the disabled community.

Research has shown that disabled people are resourceful, resilient and determined, which are exactly the qualities needed in all adoptive parents. We have lots of experience placing children and we are here to support you with your adoption journey.
