Directions to Disability North
By Car From South:
Take the A19 through the Tyne Tunnel onto A1058 West along the Coast Road. Turn right at A188 (Killingworth). Follow signs for the Freeman Hospital.
From the A1 take the A167 exit (Angel of the North) off the Western Bypass, continue along A167 through Gateshead, over the Tyne Bridge, and then follow the signs for the A167(M) - the Central Motorway. Take the slip road to Gosforth, and continue to the Blue House roundabout junction with Great North Road. Turn right at roundabout onto A189 (Ashington). Along Jesmond Dene Road onto Matthew Bank taking right turn into Castle Farm Road between the Jesmond Dene Real Tennis Club and Craghall Nursing Home.
By Car From North:
From the A1 take B1318 turn off to Gosforth. Through Gosforth High Street taking left turn at Blue House roundabout junction onto A189 (Ashington). Along Jesmond Dene Road onto Matthew Bank taking a right turn, half way down the bank, into Castle Farm Road between the Jesmond Dene Real Tennis Club and Craghall Nursing Home.
By Car From West:
From the A69 following signs for city centre. Take left turn at Denton Hotel roundabout onto A191. Continue following signs for the city centre, along the Central Motorway and take the A189 slip road (left) signposted Ashington, to the Blue House roundabout junction with Great North Road. Cross roundabout onto A189 (Ashington-Freeman Hospital). Along Jesmond Dene Road onto Matthew Bank taking right turn into Castle Farm Road.
Take the Metro to South Gosforth Station. Turn right out of station, down South Gosforth Bank and turn right at Freeman Road. Carry on walking until you come to the Dene Centre, on the right hand side, at the rounabout at the top of Castle Farm Road. 10 - 15 mins walk, part of which is uphill
If travelling to Disability North by bus, the nearest bus stops are at Freeman Hospital – a short walk from Disability North.
The 38 runs every 10 minutes from Newcastle City Centre from the end of Westgate Road (near the Central Station); on Grainger Street; on Pilgrim Street just down from the Tyneside Cinema and; on John Dobson Street just across from Newcastle Civic Centre. The service terminates at the Freeman Hospital.
Service 3 runs hourly from Battle Hill through Wallsend, Walkergate, Byker and Heaton to Freeman Hospital and onto Gosforth High Street and Regent Centre Interchange.
Services 6 and 7 each run twice an hour from the Metrocentre, through the west of Newcastle and back down through Gosforth, towards Freeman Hospital.
Service 18 runs twice hourly from Four Lane Ends to Freeman Hospital and onto Heaton, Byker, Walker and Wallsend bus terminus.
Service 52 runs twice hourly from Haymarket Bus station via Newcastle Civic Centre to Freeman Hospital and onto Longbenton, Four Lane Ends, Killingworth, Camperdown, Dudley and Cramlington.
