vacancies we advertise for disabled people in Newcastle who receive Direct Payments.

Personal Assistant duties may include assisting with personal care, assistance with social and
educational opportunities and accessing community facilities.  Hours and wage rates vary depending

on the individual needs of the employer, available hours or job description.  A driving licence or previous

experience is not essential unless otherwise stated.

Applications from people with experience of working with disabled adults and children or
experience as a carer are particularly welcome.

Disability North provide a support service to people in receipt of a Direct Payment.  As part of our
service we support service users in recruiting a Personal Assistant and advertise Personal Assistant

I have an interesting post that cover all day Friday 0930 to 2030.

Rate of pay £9 per hour. Overtime will be available including sleepovers £93.75.

I live in Benton in a fully converted bungalow.  My garden is mainly wild life.  I try to keep my life as active and as interesting as possible.  I am a hospital governor.  My care package is 24 hours and I employ 9 care staff.  Google Mary Laver.

The person whom I am looking for must be able to look after me as I am severely disabled due to Rheumatoid Arthritis which has left me totally human and wheelchair dependent. 

My interests are getting out and about in my van, sight seeing as much as possible.  I love walking my two Jack Russell's.  My food is 90 per cent organic

What sort of person am I looking for?  You must be over 25 with a full clean driving licence and be able to my Mercedes Mini bus and love dogs. 

Experience in the care industry would be a great advantage but not essential.

DBS check will be taken.

Female Personal Assistant (LB/DP/001/17)

Friendly lady with a keen interest in the arts requires a personal assistant to help her with shopping, light household tasks, light lifting (up to 15 kg), and light gardening (plant pots, no digging), enabling her to maintain her independence.

Personal Assistant (JFR/DP/002/17)

Disabled lady in the New York area of North Tyneside is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to assist with all household tasks that due to her health she is unable to do herself.  This involves everything from cooking and cleaning to assistance to get shopping, do laundry and keep the house in a good general condition.


A significant part of the role is meal preparation (except breakfast) so applicants will need to be available at suitable times to do this.

The main bulk of the job is not to deliver personal care, but this may be necessary on occasion and as a result the position is only open to female applicants.

Flexibility around working hours and a friendly caring personality are more important than qualifications.

Male Personal Assistant - (JSC/DP/001/17)

Gentleman recovering from a stroke who lives in the Slatyford area of Newcastle is looking to employ a Male Personal Assistant (Support Worker) to help him with personal care such as showering and meal preparation at a weekend and to drive him to destinations of his choice on a Wednesday and a Sunday. It would be ideal if the applicant was also able to provide cover on a Friday.


Other than a driving licence (which is an absolute requirement), no specific qualifications are required; just need a reliable, friendly individual who is physically fit enough to assist with getting into and out of bed and the shower and who will be happy to do whatever other basic tasks, such as tidying up, shopping etc that are needed on any given day.

Personal Assistant (ANA/DP/002/17)

A Personal Assistant is required by my brother who is 44 years old and has a learning disability and epilepsy (this is well controlled with medication).

He is a warm and affectionate person who lives in his own home with a lot of support from his family, but as independently as possible.

The role would involve supporting him around his personal care, domestic tasks and supporting him to stay safely in his home.

My brother also needs support to get out into the community where he enjoys activities such as playing pool, bowling and visiting different places.  He also really enjoys eating out.

Personal Assistants (Dunston, Gateshead)

Skilled carers required to work term time before and after school.  An immediate start until the end of June.

Two carers will be supporting a young 13 year old boy who has complex needs, is autistic and profoundly deaf.

At least one of the carers needs to have some signing and the willingness to improve and develop signing with support from the employer.

There will be a two hour morning shift (7am until 9am) and a two hour after school shift (3.45 until 5.45pm).

Duties are mainly home based: supporting meal times, personal care and engaging in sensory and fun play.

£10 per hour and a full DBS check will be taken.

There are also opportunities to work in the holidays and the opportunity to recommence term time work in September 2017.
