Lucas is a lively, inquisitive 6-year-old little boy who has autism, he lives with his parents and sibling in Byker, he attends a specialist school in Newcastle along with his brother.  Lucas is looking for a personal assistant to accompany and support him to access the local community, and activities of his choice. Lucas loves to go trampolining and soft play; he craves motion and movement play. Lucas would really enjoy accessing the local parks and adventure playgrounds, he must always be supervised though as he is quite the escape artist if left unattended and has no awareness of danger. Lucas likes “cause and effect” toys, especially light up ones.  Lucas will require personal care whilst in your care, he is non-verbal and communicates with gestures and noises.

To be Lucas’s personal assistant you must have experience of working with children with autism and challenging behaviours you need to be resilient, with a good level of fitness as Lucas is a strong, sturdy young boy. Lucas uses a buggy for most outings.

A car driver would be preferred but is not essential.

Lisa Marie is a lovely bubbly 50-year-old woman who lives with her brother Wayne and his family in Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Lisa has complex health issues with physical and mental disabilities. Lisa has epilepsy which is managed with medication and bowel issues that again is managed with medication. Lisa presents with developmental delay and as such has the mental capacity of an infant. Lisa is looking for a personal assistant to help support her, her brother and family with the daily care routines that he has developed to give Lisa stability and structured care. Lisa does attend a daycare centre 5 days per week so she is looking for a PA who can do short visits to support her brother with bathing routines and daycare preparation in the mornings for her. Lisa has observations carried out weekly which you would be required to assist with on the instruction and after  training from her brother who manages all of Lisa’s medications.

Lisa is non-verbal but she has developed her own way of communicating her needs using hand signals and vocal noises. Once you get to know Lisa you will quickly learn her prompts and signals. Lisa enjoys bath time and loves splashing around with her sensory toys. She enjoys a wide variety of music, but she has a soft spot for Barry Manilow, she also enjoys some of the more modern boybands but is not keen on rock or heavy metal music. Lisa really enjoys joining her brother on “road trips” in his van for family outings.

Lisa has a wicked sense of humour and loves people that are bubbly, outgoing and full of fun. She will laugh at you if you have a mishap, or you are being silly to keep her entertained. Lisa can be shy and take time to engage with you but once she feels comfortable with you, you will get to see her cheeky side. If you ever get the pleasure of meeting Lisa keep the crisps and chocolate at hand as Lisa is a true chocoholic and loves her Quavers.

This role will include full personal care and support with feeding when required.

The role involves the use of hoists and wheelchairs, so a good level of fitness is essential.

This role requires someone very flexible as the role requires a daily visit in the morning and early evening to assist Wayne with Lisa’s personal care. Days to be discussed.

Hi, my name is Jessica, I am a lady in my early 30`s and I live independently. I am very interested and active in the arts, crafts, photography, performance poetry and I like to go for walks. I am also interested in the world and have a strong sense of justice and equality. I am autistic and this impacts on my life and at times as I struggle emotionally and practically with daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning, budgeting, general housekeeping and attending appointments. I have good independency, but I need somebody similar to my age for social engagement and helping me to get on top of my finances and daily chores. I have a basic safety net, emotional regulation skills, and goals to work on.

It’s important for my PA to be firm and flexible with me. I would ideally like somebody with a good sense of humour who could share similar interests and would be a good fit for the role. You will be required to work at least once and a minimum of 4 hours per week. My Personal Assistance must be reliable and able to work flexible hours.  She must also be able to respect my privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of her work.

No formal experience is needed.
