Hours: Fully flexible – approximately 5 hours every other weekend (plus school holiday hours available)

Rate of Pay: £14.59 per hour

Area: Gateshead

Car driver with own car essential

We are seeking a 1:1 support assistant to work with our son Isaac, a friendly 9-year-old boy who has a Learning Disability. He is very energetic and likes to be kept busy with fun activities and trips out. He enjoys visiting play parks, the beach, soft play, farms and museums with the support of his 1:1.

Isaac has a reduced awareness of danger and is very easily distracted, so it is important to closely supervise him at all times.  Isaac is verbal, but needs help to interact with others when out and about.  In addition to Learning Disability, Isaac has difficulties with coordination (he is able to walk but needs supervision and uses a wheelchair for longer distances). He also has Sensory Processing Disorder.

Essential driver with own car and full clean licence – to help Isaac get out and about (mileage will be reimbursed).

We would like a caring and energetic person who can take care of Isaac on trips out, keep him safe, and build a positive relationship with him.  The PA must be a good listener who can be flexible to the needs of others. Training will be given – I will come with you for the first few trips out to help you to learn about Isaac’s needs and effective strategies for dealing with them.

Fully flexible working hours – schedule to be agreed a few weeks ahead. The role is offered on a variable hours contract, so holiday pay is already factored into the hourly rate in lieu of holiday accrual.
