Our son Brandon is 15 years old and is a lovely bubbly lad who loves a bit of toilet humour. Brandon mostly likes spending his time playing on his PS4 and Nintendo Switch, his current favourites are Fortnite, Minecraft and Super Mario and he’s a big fan of Luigi. Brandon takes time to get to know and trust new people therefore initially it would be to build up a positive relationship with our son.

Brandon experienced a brain infection damaging the nerves which has been life changing impacting on all aspects of his life including his speech, mobility, his ability to feed himself and toilet needs. Brandon can struggle to communicate. He can eat and drink orally, however, does have a peg fitted for fluid top ups. He is incontinent and uses a pubic catheter although he has a very regular routine, however on rare occasions, he might have a little accident so an element of personal care may be required.

Training will be provided in these matters.

Brandon also uses a wheelchair but is averse to going out in the community at the current time. However, he has been setting himself goals each day to trying really hard to regain and relearn the things he has been able to do previously. Ideally Brandon would like his PA to be a gamer with similar interests who is enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children.

The purpose of this job will be to provide him with social assistance and assist him in achieving his goals, ensuring his safety at all times.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBs check and references which will be taken up if you are offered the post.

I am an independent and active 21-year-old university student, living at home with my family. I’m about to start a work placement year as part of my Sports Management degree at Northumbria University. My passions include a variety of sports and I regularly play football and work out at the gym most days. My genetic condition means that I will benefit from the support of a Personal Assistant, especially during (but not limited to) low light and dark conditions. I also would like to develop my independent living skills for the future.

I am an avid Newcastle United supporter, and the role would include watching football at a variety of venues, hopefully including St James’s Park! I also play pool and attend the University Pool Club on a weekly basis. A personal assistant would also support me to attend the cinema, concerts, or other sports events either on a one-to-one basis or with a group of friends. Many of these happen at night or at weekends so this role requires a willingness to provide assistance outside of “office hours” but will guarantee some good events!

The other requirement of this role is to support me to develop independent living skills, including cooking and building my knowledge of household tasks. A personal assistant’s role will be to support me to overcome challenges to be more independent and may involve support to and from placement from September.

Ideally, I’m looking for a personal assistant who can be flexible with offering support during evenings and weekends and potential overnight if my family are away; enjoys being physically active, has a good sense humour, enjoys talking about sport and has a passion for social justice.

Being a car user is not essential but flexibility to support me from home to and from some appointments and activities may be needed, especially during the darker months.

A Personal Assistant is required to support our son Nikhit, who is a 15-year-old happy young man. Nikhit is a typical teenager, who wants to have independence from his parents and will look to convince you that he is always right with his way of thinking.

Nikhit has a great interest in cars and technology, and particularly likes trying out new devices. Nikhit enjoys days out going to the coast as well as the cinema and gaming centres. A driver with their own vehicle to help get out and about will be beneficial.

Nikhit uses a wheelchair at all times due to his condition, Muscular Dystrophy. Nikhit is very keen to keep his independence so will look to propel his wheelchair himself and will want to feel supported rather than cared for in social situations.
