Dakota is a very loving and caring 9 -year-old girl who loves chase and tickle games. Dakota has lots of energy, loves to be on the go and loves interacting with others. Dakota is a very outgoing little girl who loves going for walks, the beach, swimming, soft play, and trampolining. She loves to interact with her peers and hates to see anybody upset. If she sees somebody upset, she will try and comfort them, ask if they’re okay and will try to tickle them to make them laugh. Dakota doesn’t have much sense of danger and always needs supervision, especially near roads or traffic. She can be quite stubborn if she’s going somewhere she doesn’t want to and will protest if she doesn’t like it.

Ideally, she would like a PA who is enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children and has some experience of working with disabled children.

A car driver in this role is essential and mileage will be reimbursed.

Purpose of Job

My name is Colin Palmer.  I am a disabled man who needs some assistance with some aspects of daily living.  I live in my own home with my wife and need some support to maintain my independence.  I have a long-term health condition and have developed strategies to enable me to manage my condition and therefore it is very important that as my Personal Assistant you respect these strategies.

As my Personal Assistant your job will be to provide the domestic and social assistance that I need to enable me to live in the way which I want to.  My personal assistant will work under my direction to meet my needs and will be accountable to me in all aspects of your work. You should always ask first what my needs are and should always listen to and act on my requests and directions.  I prefer that my assistance is given by someone who must be reliable and able to work flexible hours.  They must also be able to respect my privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of their work.

Good general health is important as I need help with everyday lifting and carrying.

My Personal Assistant will also provide some relief for my wife and assist her with some household tasks and shopping.

Michael is a 12-year-old boy with a diagnosis of autism.  He is a happy, bubbly, inquisitive boy who has a keen intertest in electronics, mainly mobile phones and iPad. Michael can sometimes become very distracted and lose focus easily and when something catches his interest he can run off.  He loves trampolining, swimming and being outdoors. He has limited vocabulary and will often repeat words back to you, keeping language simple will work best for him. The families first language at home is Cantonese, however Michael understands spoken English.  Michael generally is very well-behaved. Michael and his family attend church on a Sunday and their Faith is important to them.

 Michael would like to spend his time with his Personal Assistant going to the park, trampolining, or swimming.

This position requires someone who is trained and has experience of working with children who have a diagnosis of autism.

A car owner with a full clean driving licence is preferred but not essential for this position.
