My name is Jan, I am looking for a reliable and friendly Personal Assistant, I am creative and fun-loving 16-year-old living in Brunswick Village, Newcastle. I enjoy playing on my gaming consoles, drawing scales, and coming up with new ideas for my artwork. I am big fan of Real Madrid and Newcastle United, and loves spending time by the coast, particularly around Northumberland.

Assisting me with my creative interests, including drawing and developing my artwork ideas.

Accompanying me on trips to the coast (Northumberland and other nearby areas)

Nayel is a lovely 6-year-old. He has a diagnosis non-verbal Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. He lives with his mum, dad and sister and has the bonus of having Grandpa and Grandma living with him, which he loves, the family regularly attend Mosque together. Nayel attends a specialist school setting where he is thriving and enjoys his time there, he currently uses Makaton and communication cards however he will show and lead to attain his needs too.  Nayel has a fixation of all things that have a mechanism so he will spend time opening and closing doors and locks, turning switches on and off and generally being inquisitive about how things operate.

He has a keen interest in transport and the vehicles used in transport and loves nothing better than getting ready to spend the day out with his daddy on the buses, metros and ferries across the region, he is a dab hand at planning routes and knows all the local bus routes and metro stops, and don’t try to change the route as he will know you have gone another way, he is currently looking for a personal assistant to accompany and assist him to continue on his journeys and trips to some activities he would like to take part in, he would like to visit the local parks and trampoline centres, he is also keen to start visiting on occasion Pizza Hut or KFC as he has tried these food outlets and has enjoyed his time there.

Nayel loves water but has no sense of danger so always needs full supervision, swimming would be considered but local pond areas and lakes are to be avoided. Nayel uses a stroller or a wrist strap when out, but him or mum will lead in his choice of apparatus.

This role requires personal care in the form of nappy changes should it be required and assistance with feeding and drinking will be required.

At home Nayel enjoys sensory toys with textures and his iPad which he has some favourite programs on, he will repeat things frequently on the iPad if he finds something he really enjoys.

Two Personal Assistants Required. 

Hours: 5 hours term time (x2), 9 hours holiday time (x2).

Location: Benton, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Rate: £14.00 per hour

This is a 2 to 1 role.

 

Finley is a happy, energetic and boisterous boy who has a great sense of humour and a huge smile. Finley has diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay and Autism. He is non-verbal but can make his needs known in various ways such as taking someone’s hand and leading them to an item he wants. He can also make different vocalisations to show whether he is happy or sad.

To support his communication Finley is starting to use some core vocabulary symbols and can make his own choices from photographs. Finley can sometimes struggle with transitions and likes to be shown photographs of where he is going. Adults supporting Finley should use short sentences and key words.

Finley has a visual impairment which causes him to squint. He also has an unsteady gate, and his feet turn inwards when he walks and runs and can make it seem like he is going to topple over. Neither of these seem to cause him any distress or to need further support.

Finley LOVES being outdoors whatever the weather, wind and rain being his favourite. He likes climbing up high and watching different materials blow in the wind, especially flags. He likes swimming, parks and after being so active having some nice food. Finley needs his food cut up and support to eat using cutlery. He can put too much in his mouth at once and is at risk of choking.

Finley needs support with all of his personal care and constant supervision. He has no awareness of danger and is a very fast runner! Finley uses a wheelchair when he is being supported to access the community to keep him safe.

Hours of work:

4 hours per week term time

7 hours per week school holidays

Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour

 

My son has Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and has Global Developmental Delay.  With his PA, he would like to go to the cinema, the park and previously he went to his PA’s house.

He has no sense of danger or awareness of strangers and always requires supervision for his safety. He also needs to link arms with his PA due to this and needs prompting and support with things like putting his coat and shoes on. You will need to use your car to take him to activities of his choice, mileage will be paid.  You may also need to give him medication whilst you are supporting him.

Driving licence and own vehicle essential.
