We are currently recruiting for an experienced personal assistant to support a gentleman call Benjamin who lives in Ouseburn in the centre of Newcastle. Benjamin has ADHD and is currently waiting on further assessments, he also has anxiety and suffers from episodes of depression which can incapacitate him. Experience of supporting individuals, on a one-to-one basis, with mental health and ADHD needs is required.

Benjamin requires support and encouragement to complete daily living tasks including domestic tasks and personal care tasks. He would like support with household chores including laundry and bed changing and monitoring and encouragement to look after his teeth and personal hygiene. Benjamin also requires support to access the community and attend any scheduled appointments, he may also require support with making appointments and prompting to attend the appointments, with you accompanying him to them. Benjamin usually goes shopping once a week to the local supermarket and the post office, he would require you to accompany him to the shops to assist him purchasing his required shopping.

Benjamin is not currently on any medication, but this is under review, and you may be required to assist with monitoring, recording and prompting him to take his regular medication if they are prescribed.

Benjamin would like to explore the local gyms in the area and maybe attend a Pilates class to strengthen his core muscles following a bike accident he was involved in which left him with some injuries, he feels he would really benefit from some exercise now, you would be required to support him explore these activities and accompany him to any activities he may feel he would like to take up.

Benjamin can become mute and disengaged when he is having an episode of his anxiety, and this would need to be managed sensitively and respectfully until he decided to re-engage with you.

Recruiting a Male Personal Care Assistants to be part of a team of PA’s providing support my 19 year old autistic son who has profound learning difficulties and is non-verbal.

Working hours can be flexible, however, there will be usually be one or two overnight shifts per month.  Overnight support will be waking nights as my son has night time epilepsy and sleeps poorly requiring an adult to be in attendance in an adjacent room at all times.

Main duties will be to support my son with all personal care, meal preparation, assistance with feeding, daily living tasks and providing 2:1 support working with another PA when taking him into the community to engage in leisure activities such as walks, bowling, swimming and eating out.

A clean driving licence and access to a car is preferred but not essential.

Personal assistants – women only – required to provide personal and domestic support for a disabled woman who is a wheelchair user.

The post is to provide support in her home and when she is out and about. Main duties include providing personal care, e.g. assisting to go to the toilet, showering and domestic tasks (e.g. cooking, washing, ironing, cleaning). Each PA will be required to do 1-2 shifts per week (negotiable) across the full week. She currently has vacancies for the following shifts:

Tuesdays & Thursdays overnight: 6.30pm-8.00am*

Friday daytimes 9.00am-6.00pm (flexible)

* staff are not expected to stay awake

 

All expenses in relation to the role will be paid, except travel to and from the place of work.

No previous experience is required as full training will be provided. Applicants need to be physically fit.

We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and proactive Support Workers to assist an independent young lady with Cerebral Palsy to live her best life both at home and in the community. We are offering the right person a long term and permanent position subject to satisfactorily completing a probationary period. You will be working in an established team of 8 support workers and will always be working with another member of the team on a 2:1 basis. You will provide support to maximise independence both at home and in the community.

Knowledge or experience of working with someone with Cerebral Palsy or PEG experience, is an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

Duties will include assisting with meals, both orally and via PEG, bathing, personal care, administering medication and various domestic duties.  A Motability car is available for trips out on weekends and for holidays.

This position is open to women only as the role includes providing personal care – GOC rules apply.

We are offering both full and part time hours.
