Goodluck is a lovely lively 10-year-old little boy. He has various health issues and has a visual impairment that impacts his zest for learning and enjoying activities like bike riding and playing physical activities. Goodluck uses a hearing aid that enhances his hearing skills and minimises background noises. He mainly utilises this apparatus in the school setting. Goodluck is learning to communicate verbally again and has made great progress with this lately.

Goodluck has an older brother who is extremely poorly and mostly refined to his bed, but he often spends time with him chatting. Goodluck is a “Sonic the Hedgehog” fanatic and loves all things “Sonic” whether it is on his games console or scanning YouTube for videos. He is a chatty little boy with a great sense of humour. He loves music and is often heard singing one of his favourite songs by Bob Marley – “Every little Thing”.  Goodluck is quite an independent little boy who loves to run about and ride his bicycle giving the opportunity.

Goodluck’s family have a Christian faith that is very important to them. They attend church regular and engage in prayer and fasting routines frequently. It is very important to the family that this is acknowledged and respected.

Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Fenham)

Hours of work: 3 hours per fortnight (every other Saturday)

Rate of pay: £12.00 per hour

My name is Abubakr, I’m a quiet but very active 11-year-old, and I’m looking for a Personal Assistant to support me to get out and about, to do some of my favourite activities. I love being out of the house so I can use up my energy. I enjoy going swimming and to trampoline parks or soft plays. Most things outdoors are fun too like going to the park.

At home, I like to spend time on the iPad, as well as playing with Lego and play dough.

An ideal PA for me, will have a clean driving licence with their own vehicle, so we can get to all these fun places. Having experience working with young people with autism is important to my Mum and Dad.

Verbal communication can be difficult for me, so I often find other ways to show you what I want. I also need a little help with my personal care, so you need to be comfortable doing this.

You will initially spend time with my Mum and Dad, to get to know how to best help me and support my needs.

Driver with own vehicle required.

About Me

My name is Dennis, and I am 47 years old, and I live with my sister, Tracie, who is responsible for my care, and her partner and we have a small dog.

I don’t always communicate easily due to my hearing and visual loss and there may be long pauses between questions and sometimes I give an answer that it is out of sync with the question asked, so being a good listener is essential.

My passion is my computer but since I’ve had a stroke, I cannot access it anymore so someone with a passion for computers would be ideal.

I have limited mobility and require assistance with all transfers using a stand aid and assistance with personal care.

I love a cup of tea and need encouragement to stay hydrated and after a few cups I like to have a nap in the afternoon for a couple of hours.

To be my Personal Assistant you should have some experience of working with disabled adults with visual impairment.

Driver required.
