My name is Andrew, and I’m a 28-year-old wheelchair user based in the Walker area. I’m a passionate football fan and a loyal Sunderland AFC supporter. I also love watching soaps, socializing, and going out on nights out with friends. A good sense of humor and a positive outlook on life are qualities I truly value in the people around me.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respectful and professional personal care support.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring safety and comfort.

Requirements:

Hello, I’m Mary and I’m a 77-year-old lady who is totally human and wheelchair dependent. I’m looking for a personal assistant to join my team of carers who take care of me 24/7. I’m partially sighted and wear hearing aids. I enjoy an organic diet and love to sit in my conservatory listening to books with my Jack Russell, Eric, on my lap.

I live in a fully adapted bungalow complete with hoist and I use a power chair. I love to go for walks with Eric when I can. I forgot to mention you need to like dogs and I do need you to pick up after him.

The role is for 13 hours per week, all worked in one day a Saturday, 8am till 9pm. There are also opportunities to pick up extra hours when cover is required.

My personal care routine involves assistance with showers, toileting and transfers (using a hoist – full training provided) meal preparation is part of the job as are some light household duties. I would also like someone who has full driving licence as I have an adapted van and like to go out on occasion, shopping or appointments. You must be over 25-year-old for insurance purposes.

The role is about supporting me to live independently, and I am looking for someone who can work as part of a team and can help me make each day and enjoyable and fulfilling.

I am registered severely sight impaired, I live with my 2 children, my guide dog and my pet dog. I love going on long walks with the dogs and sitting down for a coffee and cake after. I am a keen baker, my son thinks I should open a cake shop they are so delicious! In the spring and summer we like to try and grow things in the garden. I enjoy days out at weekends and school holidays to National Trust, soft play, swimming, trampolining with my children. The position will involve assisting me to get out into the community by acting as a pair of eyes for me. To do this I require someone who is confident with verbal communication and can drive my automatic car. In the home I require support with a variety of domestic tasks.

Training will be provided for the role, having enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards Disabled people along with a sense of humour are very important attributes for my PA to have.

A clean valid driving licence is essential for this role.  You must be over 25 years old for insurance purposes.
