Reporting to: Direct Payment Employer

Location: Throckley, Newcastle upon Tyne

Hours of work: 7 hours per week (2 weekday afternoons)

Rate of pay: £13.00 per hour

 

Car owner driver is essential for this role

My daughter enjoys watching her tablet, playing with her dolls, playing games like hide and seek, throwing and catching balls. She is very active and likes to visit parks and playgrounds enjoying the slides, swinging, jumping and climbing.  One of her favourite playgrounds is at Hamsterley Forest.

We are looking for a PA to support her two afternoons per week with activities such as going to the trampoline park, Tim Lamb Centre, Riverside Park in Chester Le Street and walking around the MetroCentre with a stop for ice cream

My daughter has autism and is non-verbal but is able to communicate with PECS, a Now and Next board, and gestures.  The most important thing is to give her the space and time to do as much as she can to develop her independence.

Driving licence and own car essential

Purpose of Job

Imogen is a very happy and lovely 4-year-old little girl who lives with her mum and dad and her little sister. Imogen is very playful and lovable with a great sense of humour. She loves playing shops and role models at home. Imogen loves to get out and about and likes swimming, visits to the park and the Alan Shearer centre. She can easily get fatigued at times but is happy to curl up on the sofa and watch a movie, Frozen being one of her favourites.

Imogen is verbal mainly at home but is currently learning Makaton. She has complex health needs and has a diagnosis of Polymicrogyria (a condition that affects the development of the human brain by multiple small gyri (microgyria) creating excessive folding of the brain leading to an abnormally thick cortex).

Imogen has also been diagnosed with associated conditions, namely: epilepsy, cerebral palsy and two brain tumours.  Due to Imogen’s epilepsy, it is important that the PA working with her are trained to manage her seizure activity and able to administer her emergency medication rectal paraldehyde if needed. Training will be provided

Ideally, we are seeking a PA with some experience of working with children, who are enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children.
