Female Personal Assistant – CBLANL

Rates of pay:  £14.50 per hour weekdays, and £15.50 per hour weekends.

Area: Wylam, Northumberland

Full time 36 hours per week

Monday: 15.00-20.00

Tuesdays: 8.00-20.00

Wednesday: 8.00-20.00

Saturday: 11.00-18.00

We can be flexible for alternate weekend working.

Personal Assistant for a 22-year-old woman with learning disability and additional health needs.

I am a delightful young lady who likes to go swimming, going on trips, out for walks, loves music, dancing, looking at books and jigsaws. I go to a club for young adults with additional needs (WeCan) on Saturdays. I have a learning disability and additional health needs. I communicate non-verbally with gesture, facial expressions and using a VOCA (Voice Output Communication Aid), and symbols. I have physical disabilities and need full support with personal care, feeding and getting around. I attend college Monday Thursday and Friday and activity centre with care staff Tuesday and Wednesday, at the weekends I enjoy days out with my care staff. 

We’re looking for a caring, compassionate and committed person (female) to join our small and friendly team. We are based in Wylam, Northumberland NE41,which is a 20-minute drive from Newcastle and has good rail/bus links.

UK driving licence is essential to use Motability car.

 

Knowledge and qualifications:

Experience of working with people with additional communication needs is preferred, or a willingness to complete training in this (training will be provided).

The ideal candidate would be:

Motivated, have a positive can-do attitude, patient, strong communication skills, caring, trustworthy, respectful, able to take direction and possess a genuine commitment to the role.

Great at working as part of a team and also working on your own initiative, taking direction from the Team Leader.

Social care benefits include ‘Blue Light Card’ and ‘discountsforcarers’ and access to training available e.g. QCF Diploma Level 3 in Adult Care and Children’s work.
