Job title: Female Personal Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (NE15)
Hours of work: 18 hours to be worked once every four weeks, over a weekend (including a sleepover).
Rate of pay: £12.00 per hour.
The aim of the role is to support my 17 year old daughter who is visually impaired and has additional support needs to start to do things independently of us (her parents). Our daughter is a happy sociable person who enjoys being out and about so part of the role will be for you to support her to do the activities that she enjoys such as going for walks and going to the park, when you are working with her.
This role will also involve supporting my daughter with overnight stays in your home.
In terms of her support needs, as our daughter’s Personal Assistant you will need to be patient with good communication skills. Our daughter does speak, but sometimes she is repeating things that she has heard and does not necessarily understand what she is saying. This can happen when she is asked a question, she may answer yes or no, but may not have understood the question.
As my daughter’s Personal Assistant, you will work under my direction to meet her needs and will be accountable to me in all aspects of your work. You should always ask first what her needs are and should always listen to and act on my requests and directions. You must be reliable and able to work flexible hours. You must also be able to respect our privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of your work.
A driver with own vehicle and clean licence is preferred but non-drivers may apply.
