We are currently looking for an experienced personal assistant for a lovely little girl with Global Developmental Delay who is non-verbal. She communicates using basic BSL and some Makaton signs and she will direct you through lead and show to things she requires or is interested in. Sehrish is a wheelchair user but can manoeuvre herself on her bottom if she is out of her chair to play or enjoy family time.
Personal care will be required for this role including nappy changes, assistance with feeding and drinking and support in dressing if required.
Sehrish is a happy, smiley little girl and loves painting and building things with her building blocks- she requires larger toys to play with due to her having difficulty with dexterity. She enjoys using her iPad and is a bit of an expert in accessing Spotify to listen to her favourite tunes. She currently loves “Free from Desire” where she can dance to the upbeat tune. Sehrish is looking for her PA to accompany her on trips to various venues and activities including the Alan Shearer Centre, Centre for Life, the Aquarium, and soft play centres, she would also enjoy the cinema and swimming.
Sehrish is on medication, but this is managed by her mum, and she also follows a Halal diet but has no allergies. It is important that this is adhered too at all times.
Due to the need to lift and carry Sehrish in and out of her wheelchair a good level of fitness is required and training under manual handling would be advantageous to you.
Sehrish likes to use public transport so you must be familiar with accessing public transport and be confident in using the accessible bays for her wheelchair whilst travelling.
