Personal Assistant – KFYOR

Hours:

Monday and Tuesday evenings 4.30pm- 7.30pm (school term time only) (Total hours: 6 per week)

Further hours also available during school holidays by arrangement

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour

Area: Acomb, York

 

We are looking for a personal assistant to help care for our disabled son. He is a playful and happy 6-year-old boy who loves exploring and being on the move. He has a great sense of fun and loves making new friends! He has Angelman Syndrome which means he has significant needs and requires constant supervision and care.

 

Brief details of the job:

During school term time, we are looking for someone to help care for our son in the evening. This includes dressing him, providing personal care with changes, feeding him, giving him fluids and medicines through his PEG (Note: PEG training can be provided) as well as assisting with showering. He also needs supervising to make sure he is safe. We require someone who is prepared to interact with our son (he is non-verbal) using AAC and promote learning through his play.

Physical fitness is required as the job may involve some moving and handling. Applicants must be over 17, have a current DBS certificate or be willing to apply for DBS (paid for by us).
