Car driver essential
The support is for a 28-year-old young lady with autism. E has a full life and is predominantly self-sufficient, no personal attendance required. E is a remarkable artist and spends every weekday from 9-5 working in her studio with her fabulous 1:1
She has a joy of life, is very active and VERY FAST so the applicant must be fit as walking and dancing and swimming are her great joys when not in the studio. E has days out at the weekends, loves exploring new places and experiences – which are then often reproduced in her amazing artwork.
Brief details of the job:
The job is to manage a team of fabulous support workers, as well as being a support worker themselves. The successful candidate would organise the rota (we use Rotacloud), chair monthly staff meetings, have individual appraisals with the PA team, be responsible for recruiting as well as being a dynamic part of the PA team.
The required shifts would be 2/3 weekend overnights per month (ie 5pm Friday – 5pm Saturday OR 5pm Saturday to 5pm Sunday) PLUS one overnight per week when required. More hours will become available if required. The overnight shift is more safeguarding as E sleeps well and is pretty self-sufficient. E lives at home and the PA has a separate living area, bedroom and bathroom. E needs a bit of help preparing hot meals but does 90% of this herself. In the evenings – after a walk – she is very content on her computer or watching her videos upstairs. The evenings are very relaxed, and everyone enjoys their own down time.
There is a carers car provided, and it really is pretty essential to be able to drive in the managers role. Cawood is quite remote, and E enjoys days out at weekends that are not on bus routes.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions – we look forward to finding the right candidate to manage a great team.
