Female Social Personal Assistant – ARWNCL Needed in Walker

Hours: 5 hours per week – school holidays times only including weekends.

Area: Walker, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Rate: £13.70 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced personal assistant for a loving young girl with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and PICA, due to this Ava always requires full supervision as she will eat non-food items.  She resides with her mum and dad and attends specialist educational provisions.  Ava also has no awareness of danger and will run at every opportunity, she uses a specialist buggy for outings. This role would suit someone that has full experience working with children with autism and experience is a necessary requirement.

Ava enjoys a variety of sensory stimulating activities including trampolining, swimming and trips to the local parks, she would like to visit and explore new venues with enclosed spaces to widen her experiences within the community. Routine is very important to Ava as she can dysregulate if sudden changes occur and due to her non-verbal autism, she cannot tell you directly what is wrong. Ava uses hand gestures and leading to show and tell you her needs. Ava does have meltdowns so coping strategies to manage these must be demonstrated and implemented to ensure her safety.

Ava enjoys dance & music at home and playing with her animal figures, she loves Moana and YouTube clips. She has a dry food diet, and her favourite snacks are cheese & onion crisps but only the green Golden Wonder ones 😊and she only drinks milk.

The main tasks within this role will include supporting Ava in accessing the local community, accompanying and supporting her to engage in her chosen activities. Personal care is required in this role and assistance with dressing will be required where necessary. Ava may use public transport with the goal of introducing new experiences around travel.
