We are currently recruiting for a caring, patient and reliable Female Personal Assistant to support Ella, a young person with autism, learning difficulties, epilepsy and pica. We are looking for someone who is understanding, observant and confident in supporting Ella to access the community safely, enjoy activities outside the home and have fun.

Ella enjoys getting out and about, visiting parks and the beach, walking the dog, exploring local places and going shopping, including trips to Aldi. She can walk independently but requires close supervision, as she has pica and may put non-food items in her mouth. Ella is non-verbal and communicates with little words.  The successful applicant must therefore be vigilant and confident in supporting Ella safely, particularly when outdoors or in public places. Support with personal care, including nappy changing when required, will also be part of the role.

An understanding of autism, epilepsy, pica and positive behaviour support would be beneficial. We are looking for someone who is calm, patient and responsible, with the confidence to support a young person with additional needs and the physical ability to keep up with Ella during outdoor activities. A female PA is preferred by the family, and a driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage, although this is not essential.

The role involves 4 hours on Saturdays during school term time, increasing to 8 hours during school holidays, with flexibility to be agreed with the family.

If you enjoy outdoor activities and would love the opportunity to build a trusting relationship with Ella, support her to enjoy new experiences and help her family by providing valuable respite, this could be a very rewarding role for you.
