Malcolm the rabbit
I am looking for a calm, friendly and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to support me with appointments, home admin, everyday tasks, communication and building confidence with social outings. The right person will be patient, kind and steady, and will understand that trust can take time to build.
About me
I enjoy seeing and spending time with my family.
I like animals, especially my rabbit Malcolm.
I enjoy my garden, gardening, plants and learning about them.
I like garden centres, gardens, the seaside, art and crafts, DIY, cinema and musicals, and going for coffee in familiar places.
I used to enjoy drawing and reading and would like support to gradually reconnect with things I enjoy.
What I need help with
Booking, arranging and supporting me to attend appointments such as medical, hospital, dentist, optician, autism support group and vets’ appointments.
Getting and arranging prescriptions when needed.
Liaising with Yorkshire Housing Association on my behalf, including reporting repairs and supporting me to have them completed.
Support with utilities, meter reading, communicating with providers and changing suppliers where needed.
Support finding or changing internet and mobile phone providers.
Help understanding or responding to post, forms and paperwork.
Practical support at home, such as changing the bed, hoovering, sorting paperwork, cupboards and drawers, and helping with heating controls or instructions.
Support in environments where I may experience sensory overload, including help with communication and asking for things.
Support to manage physical and mental health and reduce the risk of hospital admissions.
Support visiting family, shop for things I need, and build up gradual social outings.
The person I am looking for
Calm, friendly, thoughtful and patient.
Reliable, honest and good at listening.
Able to explain things simply and clearly without being blunt or patronising.
Confident and assertive enough to help me feel safe, but not overpowering.
Interested in getting to know me as a person and remembering what helps.
Enthusiastic, helpful and have a sense of humour.
Comfortable around animals and happy to be around my rabbit Malcolm.
A car driver.
Helpful experience
Experience or knowledge of autism, sensory processing, mental health or eating disorders would be helpful. This is preferred rather than essential, as the most important thing is that you are interested, willing to learn, patient and understanding.
