Hours: 10 hours per week (10:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday to Friday) to cover a period of maternity leave from 24th of August 2026 to 9th July 2027. Ongoing hours may become available once the role is established with regards to sickness, holiday and emergency cover.

A care assistant is required by a family man (50s), who has lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for 28 years, and who is now fully quadriplegic.

An individual is needed to assist my full-time personal assistant in all areas of my personal, domestic, and social needs.

The role will involve acting as a “second pair of hands” to my full-time personal assistant, in my daily routine of showering, dressing, grooming, the administration of medication, catheter and stoma care, eating and drinking etc. as well as taking responsibility for the domestic care and presentation of my home (single bedroom bungalow).

It is essential that applicants understand that as my condition can vary on a day-to-day basis, the ratio of personal care/domestic care likewise changes (depending on my specific needs at any point in time).  As such, the successful candidate must be able to appreciate the value in both sides of the role and be capable of providing an exceptional level of performance in each area.

Care experience is preferred but not essential as professional training will be provided in any areas that are needed.

The successful applicant will be flexible, highly motivated, and capable of maintaining a high level of professionalism, while working in an incredibly casual environment, often under their own direction. A sense of humour is essential.

Importantly, the candidate must be comfortable around dogs (or ideally be a “doggy person”) as I have One slightly mad, easily excited, but very loving Tibetan Terrier.

Interviews to take place end of July.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.

At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
